It was a strong season for the team, taking two class wins this year and scoring consistently in the other races . Walkenhorst BMW are a Dunlop development partner and have benefited from the intense development from the tyre company during the last two years.

In addition to showing great consistency throughout the year, the team have also shown incredible pace, taking pole position for Saturday’s race with a record breaking lap. For Dunlop, the Speed Trophy is the latest accolade for their Nordschleife specification tyres, adding to Dunlop’s 24h victories in 2013 (Mercedes AMG) and 2010 (BMW).

Alexander Kuehn, Manager, Motorsport OE, stated: “This year, Dunlop achieved its target of winning the fastest class of Europe’s most demanding endurance championship. We are proud to partner with Walkenhorst BMW and congratulate them on winning the VLN Speed Trophy”

Top three qualifying lockout

Whilst Walkenhorst BMW’s 2015 Speed Trophy win was the highlight of the race weekend, Dunlop performance was also proven by the top three cars in qualifying being equipped with the company’s latest GT tyres. Behind Walkenhorst’s record breaking pole position car, the stunning Scuderia Glickenhaus SCG003 prototype and Car Collection’s Mercedes AMG SLS took second and third places in qualifying – all on Dunlop

“This performance shows that we have a strong Nordschleife specific tyre for a diverse range of cars. We aim to make further development steps to build on this strong performance as we enter 2016″ added Kuehn.

Winning in open competition

Dunlop’s focus is to develop tyres in championships with open tyre competition .
